2023 Toyota bZ4X in Breinigsville, PA
The bZ4X is an all-new SUV and the first all-electric Toyota sold in the United States. It has 252 miles of electric range, an optional all-wheel-drive system, a roomy interior, and loads of standard features. In other words, Toyota’s first foray into the all-electric world is a strong one.
Power, range, and charging times
The 2023 Toyota bZ4X is available with two all-electric powertrains. Front-wheel-drive versions of the bZ4X use a single electric motor rated at 201 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque, drawing power from a 63.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It can go up to 252 miles on a single charge.[1]
Meanwhile, the AWD version uses a second motor to split 214 horsepower and 248 lb-ft evenly between the front and rear axle. It draws power from a 65.5-kWh pack and gets up to 228 miles of range. This version uses X-MODE® technology and an impressive Grip-Control feature to deliver impressive control on slippery roads and achieve exceptional off-road performance.
When you buy a new bZ4X, Toyota will provide a year of free charging at EVgo locations, where you can use DC Fast Charging technology to gain 80% charge in under an hour. With a Level 2 supply at home, the 6.6-kW onboard charger can replenish the battery overnight.
Interior comfort and space
With 44.8 inches of front legroom and 47.7 inches of rear legroom, the Toyota bZ4X is one of the roomiest compact electric SUVs you can buy. It also offers 27.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats (reduced to 25.8 cubic feet when the optional JBL® sound system, which includes a subwoofer, is equipped).
The cabin feels remarkably airy not just because of the sheer spaciousness but also because of the standard panoramic glass roof. For added comfort, you get simulated leather seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, and on the Limited trim, a special heater designed to warm your lower extremities that uses a heat pump to scavenge thermal energy from the drivetrain. Yes, even the bZ4X’s comfort is efficient.
Intelligent infotainment
The all-new 2023 Toyota bZ4X features a standard 12.3-inch central touch screen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, cloud-based navigation for three years, wireless smartphone charging, an onboard Wi-Fi system, and satellite radio. The standard six-speaker stereo sound system is good, but the nine-speaker JBL® premium system alone makes it worth upgrading to the Limited trim level.
The bZ4X’s two other big technologies of note are the all-digital gauge cluster and the smart Toyota assistant, which you can wake with key phrases like “OK Toyota” or “Hey Toyota.” It listens to your requests and understands natural speech, such as: “Hey Toyota, bring the cabin temp down two degrees.”
Advanced driver assistance
Every bZ4X is equipped with the most advanced Toyota suite of driver-assistance features yet: Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0. It packs all of the features from previous versions of TSS — like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control — and enhances them with more precise millimeter-wave radar and cameras.
For example, the pre-collision system is now able to detect guardrails, bicyclists in low-light conditions, and motorcyclists in daytime conditions. Other standard safety features include lane departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and front/rear parking sensors with automatic braking.
As the first-ever electric Toyota vehicle sold in North America, the 2023 bZ4X has a big responsibility to show just how good an all-electric Toyota can be. And with what we’ve seen so far, it succeeds in that task. Visit Krause Toyota in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, to learn more about the bZ4X and get behind the wheel!
